Philippines – Cebu City Sky Adventure

– FEBRUARY 08-09, 2016

We had a fantastic day of travel to go from Apo Island to Cebu City.  We were ready to board the 7am boat from Apo Island to Negros Island south port and the boat left with no delays.  As we reached Negros Island port we instantly caught a jeepny and rode to the town of Dumaguete.  Once there we jumped instantly into a tricycle and rode to the Sibulan Ferry Terminal.  There we had just enough time to buy our tickets for the 9am ferry and to buy some snacks.  As we arrived at Liloan Port on the south end of Cebu Island we instantly jumped into an air-conditioned bus to ride 4 hours to Cebu City.  Everything went off without a hitch and it was a smooth transition from transportation mode to transportation mode for a nice day of travel.  As we arrived in Cebu City we seamlessly switched from the bus to a taxi and went to our hotel, which had a room ready for us to check right into.

We made our way to the Sky Adventure rooftop area, where they have installed features like a zip line, climbing wall, edge roller coaster, etc that are the first of their types in the world.  They have been duplicated since then (Vegas, New York, etc) but it all originated here.

First up I did the Edge Coaster, which tilted you face down over the edge of the building so you hung over the street below.  It was very slow moving and over rather quickly.  It wasn’t as much fun as it sounds.

The World’s first climbing wall placed atop a 40 storey building, 468 feet from the ground below.  This 32 foot climbing wall makes you feel as though you were climbing a mountain with the wind blowing by and an amazing view of Cebu City.  It utilizes an auto-belay system that automatically lowers you to the ground if you slip or let go.

Then we both took part in the building to building zip line that is short, but fun.

It was time to go get some dinner, as the sun was setting on a day of urban adventure.

Tomorrow we head to the airport for a short flight to Palawan Island to stop by Port Barton for some snorkeling and beach fun.  Just over one week left on this round-the-world adventure!
