After we had seen our fill of the poverty and injustice throughout southeast asia, we had a frank discussion on what we need to get our heads ready for China/Vietnam/Thailand/Laos/Myanmar/etc. We took a close look at our British Airways air miles options and it was a very pleasant surprise to see that a flight to Paris was very, very affordable. It was a no-brainer…we had to make this leap. There will be an impact on time and our proposed destinations, so we will determine later which Asian countries will need to wait for a different adventure. In their place we are introducing Paris as stop #1 of 5 new destinations before we head to China.
Hint #02 was the picture seen below, which of course is the Eiffel Tower.
The Eiffel Tower is an amazing steel structure which can be seen from almost anywhere in the city. It doesn’t need any explanation or description, just check out the pictures below for the images of one of the world’s man-made wonders.
At 9pm they turn on the Eiffel Tower lights, which take some time to brighten up…but when they do its a beautiful sight. First the static lights come on and then they turn on the random lights which create a sparkler effect.
Our previous post’s Hint #01 was of course the Arc de Triomphe. This structure

The Arc de Triomphe underbelly with 21 sculpted roses. The very center is a camera looking down at the ground. You can see the view on a screen up top of the arch.

The Arc de Triomphe – the inner facades of the small arches are engraved with the names of the military leaders of the French Revolution and Empire.

Next up will be a series of random Paris city pictures that most people won’t know about (or simply are not famous).
Of course why would anyone ever come to Paris and not partake in the delicious cuisine! Here are some of the foodie pics from Le Paris!

The street food vendors had pretty much everything you could ask for. This picture has a potato concoction that had Jill stopping in her tracks to check it out.

We sat down in a restaurant by the Louvre to have a nice dinner. We had to have a glass of wine and a draft beer to complete the dish.
There were many other meals we had there, but this was the concentrated pics we felt were best to post. More Paris fun to come in the next few posts.
