The travels have taken us to the city of Brisbane. Back in Vancouver, Jill used to work with Nancy until she moved to Brisbane with her long time boyfriend Tristan (he’s originally from Australia). Nancy and Jill kept in touch and arranged for us to get together when we hit Brisbane on our adventure.
Nancy and Tristan were amazing hosts who went out of their way to make our time there memorable. Fantastic hosts who proactively set up things for us to do while understanding that we are on a travel budget. They made our time in Brisbane among our best experiences yet.
Nancy and Tristan organized for us to all ride the Brisbane ferris wheel. It gave us some great views of the downtown city core while an audio recording informed us of some of the history of the sites we observed.
The boardwalk contained some interesting design details, such as these lightboxes. They function as seats and pieces of art, which marry aesthetics and functionality.
Brisbane has some interesting buildings, but this one was the one that really caught our eye. It had an LED design that made a DNA type structure appear at night.
Nancy and Tristan arranged to drive us out to some nature sights. This park area had some easy walking paths, a waterfall and vegetation that could inspire anyone.

Another plant came down onto a tree and sapped the life out of it, in return it took over the original trees home.
To be honest, we reached a point on this journey where we really needed a friendly face and a taste of home. Nancy and Tristan really stepped up and made our time there exactly what we needed. Thank you Nancy and Tristan for your hospitality.
