One of our bucket list objectives was to snorkel and scuba dive at one of the 7 Wonders of the World…the Great Barrier Reef. The Great Barrier Reef is the only lifeform that can visibly be seen from outer space. The coral is classified as an animal because it does not generate its own food supply. Its a must-see stop on this journey around the world.
We had planned to do this at the southern point (which we achieved in the previous blog post for the Whitsundays sailing). Now we had to complete it with our scheduled diving at Cairns. We started off at 7:30am on the boat “Osprey V” with the company Down Under Dive. The boat was large enough for 60+ guests and a large contingency of staff. They had a lunch spread of steak, prawns, white fish, pork sausages, 6 different salads and bread. It was a great lunch and a great professional staff (even live music).

The beard is gone and now we are ready to hit the Great Barrier Reef!

This boat interior was more modern this time.

They had a guy named Elvis on the boat to entertain us as we travelled on the bumpy seas.
The best way to explain this is by pictures again. So i’ll lay off the text and let these images speak volumes.
